About adopt-standards

adopt-standards is a bootstrap skill that delegates standards adoption to the adopt-standards skill in a selected release. It resolves a stable release, requires the exact version to be disclosed before repository changes, and follows that release's instructions without adding its own adoption policy.

Key features

  1. 01Select latest stable or an exact release
  2. 02Disclose the resolved version before changes
  3. 03Follow instructions from the selected release
  4. 04Pass checkout and exact version to the adapter
  5. 05Avoid a second mutable release lookup

Use cases

  1. 01Adopt standards using a selected stable release
  2. 02Run adoption instructions from a specific release version

Bootstrap standards adoption

Run python3 scripts/select-release [VERSION] from this skill directory. Omit the version to select the latest stable GitHub Release, or supply an exact stable semantic version. Disclose the resolver's exact selected version before any repository mutation.

Read and follow the adopt-standards skill from the selected release path reported by the resolver. From that point, the selected release owns the operation; this bootstrap skill adds no adoption policy. Resolve every relative path in those instructions from the reported release checkout. When invoking its adapter, set REPOSITORY_STANDARDS_CHECKOUT to the reported checkout and pass the reported exact version as its version argument, even when the original request omitted a version. Do not perform a second mutable release lookup.
