About cost-optimization

cost-optimization is a skill for reviewing Azure waste, rightsizing opportunities, and commitments. It uses cost and Resource Graph tools for optimization and benefit tools for commitment analysis, and recommends changes without applying them.

Key features

  1. 01Reviews waste and rightsizing
  2. 02Analyzes commitment utilization
  3. 03Separates measured cost and savings
  4. 04Recommends without changing resources

Use cases

  1. 01Finding opportunities to reduce Azure waste
  2. 02Reviewing resource sizing
  3. 03Assessing reservation or benefit commitments

MCP support

It guides use of MCP cost and Resource Graph tools for optimization, and benefit tools for commitment reviews. Queries should be validated, and results must not be transformed in a shell or interpreter.

Install

Copy the command and run it in a terminal.

When to Use This Skill

Use for waste, rightsizing, and commitments.

MCP Tools

Use cost and Resource Graph tools for optimization and benefit tools for commitments. Validate queries. Fallback: API mappings.

Workflow

  1. Confirm scope, period, currency, and commitment intent.
  2. Load only the matching workflow above.
  3. Never transform MCP results in a shell or interpreter; request validated server-side projection, aggregation, or bounded follow-up queries.
  4. Separate measured cost, reported savings, and qualitative opportunities.
  5. Recommend changes only; do not delete, resize, purchase, or deploy resources.

Error Handling

ErrorAction
Access deniedName the scope and permission.
Multiple currenciesGroup and report each currency separately.
Missing evidenceState the gap; do not invent values.
Server errorRetry once; then report the trace ID.
