About dotnet-health-checks

A .NET skill for configuring application health checks across dependencies and custom logic. It covers liveness and readiness endpoints, with examples for databases, external services, caches, and message brokers.

Key features

  1. 01Liveness and readiness checks
  2. 02PostgreSQL connectivity checks
  3. 03HTTP endpoint checks
  4. 04Redis and RabbitMQ checks
  5. 05Custom application health checks

Use cases

  1. 01Checking application status for traffic routing
  2. 02Monitoring PostgreSQL connectivity
  3. 03Checking availability of external APIs
  4. 04Adding a custom database migration check

Install

Copy the command and run it in a terminal.

Health Checks Configuration

Overview

Health checks monitor application dependencies:

  • Liveness - Is the app running?
  • Readiness - Is the app ready to serve traffic?
  • Database checks - PostgreSQL connectivity
  • External service checks - APIs, caches, queues
  • Custom checks - Business logic validation

Quick Reference

Check TypePurpose
AddNpgSqlPostgreSQL database
AddUrlGroupExternal HTTP endpoints
AddRedisRedis cache
AddRabbitMQRabbitMQ message broker
CustomApplication-specific checks
