About handoff

handoff is a skill for preparing a concise continuation document for a fresh agent. It saves the note at a temporary-file-derived path, avoids duplicating existing project artifacts, and can tailor the handoff to supplied next-session priorities.

Key features

  1. 01Summarize the current conversation
  2. 02Save a handoff document to a generated path
  3. 03Reference rather than duplicate existing artifacts
  4. 04Suggest skills for the next session
  5. 05Adapt to supplied focus or arguments

Use cases

  1. 01Transfer ongoing work to a fresh agent
  2. 02Record the next session's focus
  3. 03Point the next agent to existing plans or issues

Install

Details

From the project README

Write a handoff document summarising the current conversation so a fresh agent can continue the work. Save it to a path produced by f=$(mktemp "${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/handoff-XXXXXX") && mv "$f" "$f.md" && echo "$f.md" (create-then-rename because macOS mktemp does not expand X's followed by a suffix; read the file before you write to it).

Suggest the skills to be used, if any, by the next session.

Do not duplicate content already captured in other artifacts (PRDs, plans, ADRs, issues, commits, diffs). Reference them by path or URL instead.

If the user passed arguments, treat them as a description of what the next session will focus on and tailor the doc accordingly.
