About interview

An agent skill for resolving agenda items and consequential open decisions from the conversation. It helps agents distinguish decisions they can make from those that require user input, explain options, and carry settled choices into authorized work.

Key features

  1. 01Identify decisions needing user input
  2. 02Investigate facts and delegated authority
  3. 03Explain options and recommend a path
  4. 04Summarize choices, actions, and deferrals
  5. 05Continue authorized work after decisions

Use cases

  1. 01Clarify consequential product or scope choices
  2. 02Prepare a concise decision brief
  3. 03Track deferrals and dependent work

Interview

Resolve the items named in the invoking prompt and consequential open decisions from the relevant preceding conversation. Respect an explicitly narrowed agenda. Include newly discovered issues only when they materially affect direction, scope, user-visible behavior, external contracts, or risk.

Decide who needs to answer

Investigate facts using available evidence. Make routine choices and decisions already delegated to you. Ask when a consequential preference or authority boundary remains for the user to resolve. A strong recommendation does not grant authority, and multiple reasonable options do not cancel existing delegation.

Make decisions understandable

For each decision the user needs to make, explain what is true now, why it matters, and how credible options differ in outcomes or obligations. Recommend an option and say what would favor another. Keep the brief self-contained and use plain language; an example helps when consequences would otherwise be abstract. Reuse settled context without repeating a full explanation.

Ask a small group of related questions at a time, using a structured question tool when available and appropriate. Resolve prerequisites before their dependent choices. Follow answers only when they leave a material ambiguity, conflict, or new consequential decision.

Briefly account for choices you can make yourself. Explain their tradeoffs when useful to review, without manufacturing alternatives or decision questions.

Carry decisions through

Give a compact readback covering the agenda's settled choices, actions, and intentional deferrals. For a deferral, identify the dependent work and what would allow it to resume. Unambiguous answers settle those items; ask again only about remaining consequential assumptions or conflicts.

Carry settled choices into the original authorized task and continue independent work while another answer is pending. An interview-only request ends with the readback. The interview is complete when its items are resolved or explicitly deferred; implementation is complete only when the authorized work is done.
