About lithium-battery-safety
A safety skill for assistants handling suspected lithium-battery damage, compatibility questions, and incidents. It emphasizes prompt hazard guidance, checking exact manufacturer limits, and relying on current local authorities for disposal and emergencies.
Key features
- 01Respond to signs of possible battery damage
- 02Check battery and charger limits
- 03Assess chemistry, polarity, and protection
- 04Use current local incident guidance
Use cases
- 01Advise when a device may have a damaged battery
- 02Check charger compatibility against battery limits
- 03Find official guidance for disposal or incidents

Suspected damage or an emergency
If the user reports swelling, a lifting screen, a bulging case, or other signs of possible battery damage, address the possible hazard promptly, even during an unrelated task. Advise stopping use and charging of the suspected damaged device. Do not claim a symptom alone proves the cause.
Read symptoms and emergencies for warning signs, precautions, and local official emergency/disposal guidance. Do not delay urgent guidance to gather illustrative images or carry on operating an affected device. Preserve the prohibitions against puncturing, disassembling, or short-circuiting a battery. Keep warnings clear and proportionate; do not repeat them unnecessarily.
Battery and charger compatibility
Use current manufacturer datasheets and schematics for the exact battery, charger, board revision, and operating arrangement. Check chemistry, cell count, charge voltage, configured charge current versus the battery's maximum charging current, connector polarity, temperature limits, protection circuitry, and charging under load. Similar model names or matching connectors do not establish compatibility.
State the supporting limits, sources, and unresolved inputs. Do not recommend connection or adaptation when a limit is exceeded or a critical compatibility fact is unknown. Read the worked compatibility example when tracing a charger-current setting from a schematic and comparing it with battery limits.
For storage, disposal, or an active incident, use current local government or fire-service guidance through the symptoms reference. Do not present historical product examples as current safety evidence.
