Mac Maintenance is a skill for running a defined Mac upkeep routine. It updates Homebrew packages and clean Git repositories under ~/Projects, empties the Trash, and reports counts for completed, skipped, or failed tasks.

Install

Copy the command and run it in a terminal.

Mac Maintenance

Use when Peter asks for Mac cleanup, maintenance, or package/repo refresh.

Run

  1. Homebrew:
brew update && brew upgrade
  1. Repos under ~/Projects:
for repo in ~/Projects/*/.git; do
  dir=${repo:h}
  git -C "$dir" status --short --branch
  git -C "$dir" pull --ff-only
done

Skip dirty repos unless Peter explicitly asked to handle them. Report skipped paths.

  1. Empty Trash:
osascript -e 'tell application "Finder" to empty trash'
  1. Finish with terse counts:
  • brew: upgraded / already current
  • repos: pulled / skipped / failed
  • trash: emptied / failed
