About migration
A migration skill for planning and carrying out staged data or system changes. It emphasizes compatibility, rollback, preserving existing data, and stopping when the requested stage is verified.
Key features
- 01Map readers, writers, and ownership
- 02Plan forward and rollback paths
- 03Preserve data and authorize destructive steps
- 04Support mixed-version operation
- 05Verify transitions and partial failures
Use cases
- 01Plan a staged data migration
- 02Coordinate overlapping old and new versions
- 03Verify a migration before contraction

Map current readers, writers, data shape, compatibility window, and ownership before editing.
- Define forward path and rollback path.
- Preserve existing data; make destructive steps explicit and separately authorized.
- Keep mixed-version operation safe where rollout can overlap.
- Sequence expand, migrate, verify, then contract when applicable.
- Make retries idempotent and partial failure observable.
- Verify old and new paths at required transition stages.
Stop after requested stage passes; do not perform later destructive contraction implicitly.
