About nle-export

A skill for exporting a Reelary project timeline to formats that can be imported into video-editing software. It helps users select an export format and explains where to import the resulting file.

Key features

  1. 01Export timelines as FCPXML, XML, or EDL
  2. 02Choose formats for supported NLEs
  3. 03Provide export path and import steps
  4. 04Link timelines to original local media

Use cases

  1. 01Move a Reelary timeline into Final Cut Pro
  2. 02Import a timeline into DaVinci Resolve
  3. 03Transfer a project to Premiere Pro
  4. 04Use EDL as a fallback interchange format

MCP support

Calls the reelary_export_nle MCP tool with a project ID and format. Without MCP, the skill gives a Reelary CLI export command.

Install

Copy the command and run it in a terminal.

NLE export

Steps

  1. Make sure a project exists: build one with rough-cut or ask which saved project to use.
  2. Pick the format: fcpxml for Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve, xml for Premiere Pro (FCPXML import), edl as the universal fallback.
  3. Call reelary_export_nle with project_id and format. Give the user the file path and the import menu: Premiere File > Import, Final Cut File > Import > XML, Resolve File > Import > Timeline.
  4. The timeline links to the original files on this computer, so import on the same machine (or relink).

Without MCP

npx -y reelary export <project_id> --nle fcpxml

Notes

  • NLE export is a Pro feature. On pro_required, explain and share the upgrade link once; MP4 export (rough-cut) works on the free plan.
  • If the reelary_* tools are missing, use the reelary skill first.
