About no-task-output
no-task-output is an agent skill that prevents use of the TaskOutput tool. It directs agents to run Task synchronously so that only a summary, rather than a full transcript, returns to the main context.
Key features
- 01Prohibits use of TaskOutput
- 02Recommends synchronous Task execution
- 03Keeps full agent transcripts out of main context
Use cases
- 01Running an agent without loading its full transcript
- 02Avoiding context overflow during long tasks

Details
From the project READMENever Use TaskOutput
TaskOutput floods the main context window with agent transcripts (70k+ tokens).
Rule
NEVER use TaskOutput tool. Use Task tool with synchronous mode instead.
Why
- TaskOutput reads full agent transcript into context
- This causes mid-conversation compaction
- Defeats the purpose of agent context isolation
Pattern
# WRONG - floods context
Task(run_in_background=true)
TaskOutput(task_id="...") // 70k tokens dumped
# RIGHT - isolated context, returns summary
Task(run_in_background=false) // Agent runs, returns summary
Source
- Session where TaskOutput caused context overflow
