About principle-redesign-from-first-principles

A coding-agent skill for integrating requirements by reconsidering the design from the ground up. It guides developers to understand affected files, propagate the redesign consistently, and implement it incrementally.

Key features

  1. 01Read all affected files
  2. 02Reconsider design from first principles
  3. 03Update references across the project
  4. 04Deliver redesign incrementally

Use cases

  1. 01Integrating a foundational requirement
  2. 02Reworking an existing design for a change
  3. 03Keeping types, docs, and examples consistent

Redesign From First Principles

When integrating a change, don't bolt it onto the existing design. Redesign as if the requirement had been a foundational assumption from the start.

  • Read all affected files and understand the current design
  • Ask: "if we were writing this from scratch with this new requirement, what would we build?"
  • Propagate the change through every reference: types, docs, examples, rationale sections
  • Think about the whole redesign, then deliver it incrementally

This is the method for preserving option value when integrating changes into an existing design.
