Product Positioning

Use this skill to turn a product from a list of features into a market argument.

Workflow

  1. Identify target segment, urgent job, alternatives, category frame, and proof assets.
  2. Read references/product-positioning-patterns.md.
  3. Build positioning from audience, problem, alternative, differentiator, outcome, and proof.
  4. Stress-test against competitors, skeptical buyers, and wrong-fit users.
  5. Produce messaging hierarchy and landing/sales usage.

When not to use

  • Do not use for generic advice the base model already handles without this skill's specific artifact contract.

Guardrails

  • Do not claim uniqueness without a defensible difference.
  • Do not broaden the audience until the wedge is strong.
  • Do not confuse tagline writing with positioning.
