About r2mcp-basic
r2mcp-basic is a skill for reverse-engineering binaries with bundled r2mcp tools. It is intended for tasks involving executables, libraries, firmware, and shellcode, and emphasizes focused analysis and explicit uncertainty when findings are incomplete.
Key features
- 01Analyze binaries and firmware
- 02Inspect functions, symbols, and strings
- 03Examine control flow
- 04Handle patching tasks
- 05Prefer structured tools
Use cases
- 01Inspect an executable or library
- 02Investigate firmware or shellcode
- 03Analyze functions and control flow
- 04Assess a binary patch
MCP support
The skill uses bundled r2mcp MCP tools for analysis; the input does not specify tools or resources it exposes to MCP clients.

Details
From the project READMEUse the bundled r2mcp MCP tools when the user asks about binaries, executables, libraries, firmware, shellcode, functions, symbols, strings, control flow, or patching with radare2.
Preferred workflow:
- Open the target file or session first.
- Run the minimum analysis needed for the task.
- Prefer structured r2mcp tools over raw command execution when both are available.
- Summarize findings in reverse-engineering terms the user can act on.
- Close files or sessions when the task is finished.
Be explicit about uncertainty when analysis is partial or when the binary has not been fully analyzed yet.
