About vitest

A Vitest skill for working with the Vite-native test framework, covering its APIs, configuration, and testing features. It provides topic-based references for writing and running tests, including mocking, coverage, concurrency, and type testing.

Key features

  1. 01Jest-compatible test APIs
  2. 02Native ESM, TypeScript, and JSX support
  3. 03Watch mode and parallel workers
  4. 04Coverage, snapshots, mocks, and spies
  5. 05References for configuration and CLI
  6. 06Advanced test environments and type testing

Use cases

  1. 01Configure tests alongside a Vite app
  2. 02Run tests selectively in watch mode
  3. 03Measure coverage and use snapshot tests
  4. 04Test types or run concurrent test suites

Install

Details

From the project README

Vitest is a next-generation testing framework powered by Vite. It provides a Jest-compatible API with native ESM, TypeScript, and JSX support out of the box. Vitest shares the same config, transformers, resolvers, and plugins with your Vite app.

Key Features:

  • Vite-native: Uses Vite's transformation pipeline for fast HMR-like test updates
  • Jest-compatible: Drop-in replacement for most Jest test suites
  • Smart watch mode: Only reruns affected tests based on module graph
  • Native ESM, TypeScript, JSX support without configuration
  • Multi-threaded workers for parallel test execution
  • Built-in coverage via V8 or Istanbul
  • Snapshot testing, mocking, and spy utilities

The skill is based on Vitest 5.0.1, generated at 2026-09-25.
